How Can metallic Taste In The Mouth Be Treated?

I have been getting a metal taste in my mouth as well as dryness. Also Tuesday of last week I had a stomach bug for 24 hrs and left my feces with a funny smell that I smelled this morning as well. I am regular and eat fairly well, and hardly drink at all. I am on BP meds as well as a statin. Any suggestions?v

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Your symptoms of metallic taste in mouth and dryness or Xerostomia are due to side effect of medicines as stations as well as blood pressure medication causes dry mouth and metallic taste in mouth.
Dry mouth also cause alteration in taste due to disturbance in the functioning of the taste buds as they need sufficient flow of saliva for optimum function.
Stomach bug is not related to your oral conditions.
You should first of all consult your treating physician and get evaluated so that he can alter the dose of the medication so that the symptoms will improve.
For dryness relief you can chew sugar free chewing gum, suck tart candies and Gargle with methlycellulose containing mouthwash like Biotene.

Hope you get well soon.

Regards.
